PARTS OF THE E-WAYBILL:
- Part A has to be furnished by the Consignor.
- Part B has to be furnished by the Transporter.
WHAT IS AN E-WAYBILL?
- Â e-Waybill is an electronic document generated on the GST portal, evidencing the movement of goods.

VALIDITY OF AN E-WAYBILL:
The validity of an e-waybill depends on the distance to be traveled by the goods.
- For Less than 100 KM – 24 hours from the time the e-waybill was generated.
- For every additional 100 KM thereafter – additional 24 hours.
- The validity of an e-Waybill can be extended; and it can be done from 8 hours before expiry, up to 8 hours after expiry.

EXEMPTIONSÂ TO E-WAYBILL:
No e-way bill is required to be generated in the following cases:
- Transport of goods as specified in Annexure to Rule 138 of the CGST Rules, 2017;
- goods being transported by a non-motorized conveyance;
- goods being transported from the port, airport, air cargo complex, and land customs station to an inland container depot or a container freight station for clearance by Customs;
- in respect of movement of goods within such areas as are notified under rule 138(14) (d) of the SGST Rules, 2017 of the concerned State; and
- Consignment value less than Rs. 50,000/-.
In addition, if your basket contains a voluminous or heavy item, an additional charge as per the category below would be charged per item.

WHY IS IT DONE?
- A Container Bodies vehicle has limited space inside the container. Many types of packages have less density. Hence conversion is necessary to equate the space that the package occupies, to its corresponding weight.
- If the Volumetric Weight is higher than the Actual Weight, then the Volumetric Weight will be applied to calculating the freight charges.
